Local News Update

Good morning Avenue Ward
Hope you are all staying safe.  We've now entered May and a few things to report since my last update.
Shed and garages are still being targetted, 4 reported over the past week on Ella Street, Blenheim Street and Westbourne Avenue.  Bicycles and power tools targetted.   One residential burglary reported on Spring Bank West where an insecure property was entered and a laptop stolen.
Several vehicles broken into across the Avenue Ward, an adult male was arrested on 2 May after being caught with items stolen from a vehicle on Thoresby Street.  He has been charged and will be appearing in court at some point in the future.
Please be vigilant and remove items from your vehicles before leaving them unattended.  This includes loose change, bags, phone chargers, anything on the back seat!  Even clothing.
Lock bicycles kept in sheds and garages to each other, and to something else weighty if possible such as a lawnmower, ladders etc.   You may wish to look at purchasing a ground anchor for the shed or garage for extra security and a garage door defender which is a T bar which is secured into the ground which prevents the doors from being pulled open.
Register your cycles and electrical items at  You can do this by using individual serial numbers of the products.
Report any criminal activity to Police as this builds up the bigger picture for us, if you don't report it how do we know it is happening?
We are still patrolling your streets both on foot and by vehicle so please contact us if you need us.

Take care
