Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear, Citizen,

Join the Neighbourhood Network team on Tuesday 16th March at 11am along with NatWest Community Banker Amanda Smith for our latest Keep Connected Zoom ‘Keeping You Safe from Fraud and Scams’.

Amanda will be delivering a 45-minute presentation discussing how banks are helping tackle these types of crime. Amanda uses real examples of how people have fallen foul of scams and more importantly how you can protect yourself and others.

The session will feature a question-and-answer section at the end, where you can comment on your own examples or ask Amanda for further advice.

The session is based around the Friends Against Scams programme, which is a National Trading Standards Scams Team Initiative, aiming to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering people to take a stand against scams.
  • Scams cost the UK economy £5-10 Billion per year.
  • 53% of people over 65 have been targeted by scams.
  • Only 5% of scams are reported.
  • Our statistics indicate that the average scam victim has lost over £3000.
