Local News Update

Good morning
Hope you are all keeping safe during lockdown.   Middle of the month and a quick update in relation to burglaries on the Avenue Ward.  During March there was a significant increase in dwelling burglaries and shed and garage burglaries.  An adult male has been charged with two of the dwelling burglaries and is under investigation for others.  He is now enjoying a break at his majesty's pleasure.
During April to date, there have been four shed/garage burglaries where cycles have been the target.  These have occurred on Victoria Avenue, Sycamore Court and Dundee Street.
If you have cycles in your shed or garage please lock them together with a substantial lock or chain and chain them to other heavy items within the shed to make them less accessible.  Consider fitting an alarm and add security lighting in your garden.  Always report any suspicious behaviour to 101 or 999 if a crime is occurring at the time.
Please be reassured that your local community Policing team are out and about and are continuing to patrol the tenfoots wherever possible.

Thanks & stay safe
