Information sent on behalf of Humberside Police

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team are out in the Community today and will be for the rest of this week delivering advice letter to the Elderly and Vulnerable around staying Cyber Safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We will also be paying attention to the areas you have reported to us where people are gathering against the rules set by the Her Majesty's Government. These include but are not limited to:

-Wrawby Street, Brigg (outside the White Horse)
-Brigg and Wrawby Cemetery
-Ancholme Leisure Centre
-Waters Edge, Scawby Brook
-Atheron Way (Under the M180 overpass)
-Horkstow Bridge
-Pebbly Beach, South Ferriby

If you need to report a breach of the rules please do so using our online reporting form at:

https://www.reportingcrime.uk/HPBreachOfCovid19Guidance/index.html

The restrictions on our lives have created a unique circumstances which Criminals have started to exploit. There has been an increase of Scams using Coronavirus as a pretext to prey on peoples fears and vulnerabilities.

The letter provides guidance on how to identify a Scam and gives example of one that criminal have been using. I have attached a copy of the Letter to try and reach as many people as possible.

Please look after each other as much as you can during this time. The Police are still operating as they would do in normal circumstances so do not worry that you are putting more work on us. Tackling Corona Virus has just become a part of daily business for us.

You should not stop reporting other things like crime and anti social behaviour to us but just be prepared that we may deal with things differently. For example follow up contact from an officer may be done on the phone or by letter rather than face top face. We have also been recording statements over the phone and just attending at peoples homes in order for them to read and sign them.

We are asking that as much non-emergency crime as possible is reported using our online reporting form at:

https://www.humberside.police.uk/non-emergency-crime

If a non emergency incident is in progress still use 101 and in an emergency or crime in progress use 999.

Remember the messages at the core of the Government Rules:

STAY HOME > PROTECT THE NHS > SAVE LIVES

STAY HOME THIS EASTER

Kind regards,

Lawrence GRANT
