Increase In Theft From Motor Vehicle Offences

Alert message sent 31/07/2019 22:42:00

Information sent on behalf of Humberside Police

A vehicle crime has been reported in your neighbourhood

In the month of July 2019 there have been eight reports of vehicles being broken into on the Yarborough Ward whereby offenders have smashed a window on the vehicle to gain access to the vehicle and steal items from within. In most cases an item of value has been left on display but in a couple of instances there has been nothing of value left on display and the offender has conducted searches through glove boxes, door pockets and the boot.

Please follow the below advice to protect your vehicle and prevent yourself from becoming a victim of crime:

*Ensure your vehicle is locked with all windows fully shut
*If you have a vehicle alarm then ensure this is activated
*Try and park in a well lit area
*Do not leave any items of value on display....even loose change, items of clothing or even a carrier bag of rubbish inside as an opportunist will break into a vehicle for such items
*Remove any sat-navs and also the cradles which they sit in
*Wipe away any sucker marks from the windscreen (from sat-nav holders)
*Remove mobile chargers from display within the vehicle
*Register all your valuable items on www.immobilise.com - You can store your property records for free on the police approved website, which could help return your property should it ever be stolen - regardless of where in the UK it turns up.
