Crime Prevention Advice

Dear Resident,

We have received a number of reports that an unknown male has been conducting door to door sales at properties during the evening. When residents have spoken to the male he has stated that he is on a rehabilitation programme, possibly from a charity called Helping Hands.

Although there is a charity called Helping Hands Grimsby, they have confirmed that they would not attend properties unless an appointment was made prior and they would NEVER ask for cash.

On Tuesday (12 October 2021) night some residents felt pressured into purchasing items from this male.

This male was described as white, about 5'8 inches tall and slim built. He was wearing a black jacket and had a large bag with him at the time.

There are many charities out there that do amazing work for our wider communities, however none of them will make you feel pressured into handing over goods or cash. Unless you are expecting a visitor during the hours of darkness, I would be mindful before I would open up my door.

Please be vigilant and to report anything suspicious through to the Police on 101/on-line or in an emergency on 999.

Could I request that you share this alert with your family, friends, neighbours and even social media by clicking the 'share' below.

If you have a spare few minutes, please 'rate' this message.

Help me to help you by making our areas a safe place to live and work.

Kind Regards

Dave
