Crime Prevention Advice

Distraction burglars can target anyone. Luckily this week a vulnerable lady in what was initially thought to be a distraction burglary turned out to be a genuine worker. However during the course of our enquiries it became apparent that the lady may not have checked who was at her door.
Be alert - when someone knocks on your door make sure you don't let them in unless you are expecting them or they provide proper ID.
This message is especially important to our vulnerable members of the community. If you know someone (family/friend/neighbour) who is vulnerable talk to them about this. A genuine person will not mind being asked for ID.
Whilst conducting Humber Talking yesterday and today on Endcliffe Avenue in full uniform, I was asked to show my ID which was good to see.
