Crime Prevention Advice


Dear Resident,
 
It is now coming up to that time of year for everyone to start to enjoy the festive season, however as we all know that some people will have some type issue over the festive period, so please check out some advice that might help those people in need of help or just some positive advice to prevent yourselves from not enjoying the festive period.
 
These are the key messages we’re sharing:

Domestic abuse
Almost half of all domestic abuse incidents reported over the festive period involve ex partners.
If this applies to you or someone you know, we want you to be aware of the increased risk and where you can go for help and support.

Online fraud
If something looks too good to be true, it probably is

Burglary
Don’t leave presents on show in vehicles
If you’re putting presents under the tree think about whether it can easily be seen through a door/ window.
Keep your doors/ windows locked

Staying safe after a few drinks
Socialising may look different this year but where there are opportunities to let your hair down/ have a few drinks don’t put yourself at risk.
Arrange taxis/ transport ahead of time
Drink in moderation – especially if you’re driving the next day
Keep your distance from hostile situations

Drink driving
More people are likely to be drinking at home – where each drink is likely to have a far bigger measure than you’d get in a bar.
The number of drinks you’ve had may not be the same as the number of units you have had – and it may take longer than you think to get out of your system.
