Crime Prevention Advice

Dear Resident,

Last night I saw a post on Facebook where residents had concerns and believed that there were people who were impersonating Police Officers as they were in plain clothes and also showed them 'Police identification'. Although for obvious reasons I can not show you a photograph of a Police Identification - I can confirm that there were Police Officers in plain clothes who were operating in our area where they were offering reassurance and crime prevention advise. Although I have commented on the post itself, I am sending out this alert to offer additional reassurance.

As part of our commitment to ensure your safety and to tackle crime, Police do operate a number of tactics and one of those tactics is were Police Officers operate in plain clothes.

When looking at crime prevention and how to make it more secure, please consider the below:

1. Close/lock your gates on your driveway (if you have any).
2. If you have any side gates to your property, again please ensure that these gates are closed and locked.
3. Ensure all windows and doors are locked and secured.
4. If you have CCTV, please ensure that it is operational. If you haven't got any CCTV, please consider purchasing one (for your own piece of mind).
5. Do not leave anything on display or water marks on your windscreen (in your vehicles) or display Christmas presents (apologies for speaking about Christmas in November) or anything of value where it could be seen from the Road/Street.
6. Look after your neighbours, the more eyes we have the better we are prepared.
7. Please report anything suspicious, not just on Facebook but also to Police on 101/999/on-line. This will allow Police to be in the right area at the right time. Please remember although my team and I do monitor Facebook we are not always on it and by the time that we see it, we are already off duty.

I hope the above does alleviate any concerns that you may have.

Only together can we beat crime and make our area a safer place to live and work.

Kind Regards
