Information sent on behalf of Humberside Police

Tackling Rural Crime

On Sunday 18 October 2020, 5 reports were received from members of the public and our farming community of possible Hare Coursing activities across Holderness

Wildlife Crime Team Patrols were dispatched into the areas of Rise, Humbleton, Sunk Island, Winestead and Holmpton, this resulted in the following actions been taken

Two men were interviewed at the roadside in relation to reports of hare coursing on land around South East Holderness. A Section 59 order was issued to the driver of a silver VW Golf Estate for driving on land contrary to section 34 of the Road Traffic Act. Three lurcher type dogs were checked for microchips and reported to the council for a follow up action.
Four men from County Durham were interviewed for poaching offences in the Burton Agnes area and directed to leave the County of East Riding under the Section 35 of the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, the men were occupants of a black VW Passat which was previously sighted in the Garton area on 4/10/20

Humberside Police cannot tackle this or any other problem alone and lots of individuals and agencies continue to have an important input in to Operation Galileo, in particular members of Farm Watch groups and residents of our rural communities.

Thank you for your calls, please continue to report suspicious activity to the Police..
