Local News Update

[In August we have had 3 shop thefts from Tesco, one which resulted in £1500 of goods being taken. There have been a couple of car damages on either side of the town, one vehicle was scratched, the other dented by unknown means. There was a residential burglary from an insecure Summerhouse where 4 expensive road bikes were stolen and finally an attempt theft of a phone by a male who rode by the victim on a push bike

Hornsea seafront and Mappleton continue to be popular areas for visitors. Parking problems persist specifically around Mappleton. There had been parking restrictions in force which ERYC wardens were enforcing but this has now come to an end. As the good weather continues we ask that visitors to this area park considerately and sensibly not blocking paths or driveways and be mindful that farmers are still harvesting and large machinery has to be manoeuvred down the narrow country lanes

We have received complaints from local residents about vehicles behaving in an anti-social manner in and around Hornsea and specifically in Tesco carpark. Hornsea Neighbourhood Police team is increasing patrols of these areas in order to reduce the complaints plus speak to young drivers about their manner of driving. We would like to encourage anyone who witnesses or is victim of Anti-Social Behaviour to come forward and report it to Humberside Police on 101, 999 if it is an emergency, via the online reporting tool or at your local Police Station.

Officers are still offering advice and support with regards to the wearing of face coverings in shops and supermarkets. We have been reassured that the vast majority of the public are complying with the government regulations. We will continue to Engage, Explain and Encourage the use of face coverings however Enforcement does remain an option for us but only as a last resort.

HumberTalking
Humber Talking is set to begin again from 2nd September in Hornsea.  We will be adhering to Social distancing guidance and will not be entering houses but speaking to members of the public who want to take part on their doorsteps.  If you would rather participate online and highlight any issues you think the Police should be dealing with please visit the website www.mycommunityalert.co.uk/humbertalking. Your responses help us better understand our area and prioritise issues to be tackled.
