Man arrested and drugs seized after residents help police chase

Officers spotted a vehicle travelling at speed down Manor Road, Scunthorpe, on the evening of Monday 3 August which then pulled up outside a shop with a man making off from the car.

Following a foot chase that saw many officers in the area of Bottesford, Scunthorpe, a local 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. In custody he was later arrested on suspicion of money laundering, driving without insurance and a further traffic offence.

He has been released under investigation whilst our enquiries continue.

The man was seen to run through multiple gardens and disturb a lot of residents in the area. We want to thank these members of the public that assisted us by giving us access through their properties and gardens, which resulted in his subsequent arrest.

Officers returned to the vehicle and a quantity of suspected cocaine, heroin and around £5000 in cash were seized.

We want to offer reassurance to the community that this is believed to have been an isolated incident.
