We have been informed by Preston Traffic Group that they have received several complaints regarding vehicles parked on pavements along Main Street, Preston, which is affecting the safety of pedestrians.
Parking on the pavement may not sound like a major problem, but for parents with buggies, people using wheelchairs, people with visual impairments or older people who need support to walk, pavements blocked by parked cars can mean there is no way through without being forced to risk walking in the road which can seriously inconvenience the pedestrian and their safety.
We ask for all motorists not to park on the pavements.
We will be patrolling the area and any vehicles found causing an obstruction to pedestrians using the pavement could be issued with a fixed penalty ticket for that offence.
We seek your full cooperation in this matter, working together to keep our neighbourhood safe for everyone.
Please plan your route well in advance in order to minimise disruption to your journey over the period of the repairs.
