Suspicous activity around cash points: Withernsea

Alert message sent 02/12/2019 08:37:00

Information sent on behalf of Humberside Police

Suspicious circumstances reported in your area

Withernsea: Natwest cash point (Queen street)

It has been brought to our attention that a possible attempt theft may have occurred sometime last week. The report states a young man rode up to someone at the Natwest cash point and tried to take their wallet. The male was unsuccessful and the incident wasn't reported to the police.
Also a group of 4 were hanging around the same area and a young male rode towards someone as they removed the money from the cash point, the person saw them and turned around and the male rode off,  again this wasn't reported.
At this time we are unable to say what days or times this has happened.
It is always best to report anything like this as it could stop an actual theft occurring and someone getting hurt, it also allows us to check CCTV in the area with a view to ID those involved.

Always take care when using a cash point:
be aware of who is in the area
don't walk off with the money in your hand, place inside your purse, wallet etc. before leaving
cover the keypad while entering your pin number
and always report any issues, suspicious activity to the police.
