Field fires and rural crime

Alert message sent 22/08/2019 16:01:00

Information sent on behalf of Humberside Fire & Rescue

Following a spate of field fires over recent weeks in North Lincolnshire and the East Riding, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is reiterating its warnings to farmers as it continues to work alongside Humberside Police to protect farms and bring to book those responsible for these serious crimes.

Members of the public in rural areas are asked to be especially vigilant and report anything suspicious to the relevant authorities or by simply dialling 999 in the most urgent cases.

The majority of field fires have been proven to have been started deliberately, including the incident in Cleethorpes earlier this month. Tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused in that incident and tied up dozens of firefighters for a significant period of time.
