Information sent on behalf of Humberside Police

On Monday at Grimsby Crown Court Shaun Hutson, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 8 years for two armed robberies and an attempted robbery.

The robberies, at McCalls on Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes on 11 September where he threatened staff with a kitchen knife and Farmfoods on Garabaldi Street in Grimsby on 22 September where he threatened the staff with a handgun.

Shaun Hutson was arrested on 26 September and a number of items were recovered from a property on Guildford Street where he was staying.
The officer investigating the offences, Detective Constable Nigel Morgan said, “These were particularly nasty robberies.  The staff at both of these stores were extremely distressed by the incidents.  No one should have to fear being threatened with weapons when they go to work.

“I want to praise the victims of these cases for their bravery and the way they have helped our investigations.  I also want to thank the public for the information they gave to us to help apprehend Shaun Hutson.”

Shaun Hutson begins an 8 year-sentence and can no longer be a treat to Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
