Information sent on behalf of Humberside Police

OPERATION GALILEO UPDATE for Sunday 14th October 2018

OPERATION GALILEO Update 14/10/18 at 1235hours

we have done our best in listening to the complaints from members of our rural communities and have covered the three main principles of policing

1. PREVENT -on intelligence received from farmwatch members, a vehicle was intercepted as it entered Holderness around 0750 hours and safely stopped, putting no members of the public at risk. The silver Vauxhall Vectra contained three males and three dogs. This early intervention has prevented any wildlife & rural related issues across our communities

2. DETER - the three males where issued with direction to leave the County of the East Riding for a period of 48 hours(maximum amount) authorised by the duty inspector along with a Section 59 to driver and vehicle for a period of 12 months which covers driving in a careless manner and driving on common land, land not part of a road, a footpath, bridleway contrary to section 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. Failure will be arrest & seizure of vehicle.

3.DETECT - details of these individuals recorded and verified. Further investigations are required on previously reported poaching complaints; once evidence obtained, a summons can be served.

At this time of update, no further reports of poaching/hare coursing have been made across the County of the East Riding of Yorkshire.

We thank you all for your support and assistance in this matter.
