Target hardening days in relation to burglaries across the SUTTON WARD.

Issued 01 June 2026

Police and council are also working on a funding bid to be able to provide target hardening equipment to local residents and victims of crime for free.

Talks are going to be done by police at local community centres/groups in regards to target hardening and safety to raise awareness.

update 21 October 2023: A funding bid has been granted for the area which will be used to purchase security and target hardening products. This will also be used to increase patrols within the ward to try detect and prevent further crimes.

Update 23 January 2024: We still have the Burglary initiative at Sutton and since the last update we have purchased numerous security items using the budget including door and window alarms and CCTV systems.

The plan is to have a day of action in the coming months to offer target hardening the most vulnerable residents.

Update June 2024: A target hardening day of action was completed in SUTTON VILLAGE in May where police officers and partner agencies attended addresses in the area and provided residents with target hardening advice as well as various products from the SUTTON WARD security budget. The day was a success, and the team are now looking at completing another 2 targeting hardening days in the DORCHESTER ROAD and HOWDALE ROAD areas of the ward. PCSO 7562 WALLER has compiled a list of addresses visited and products handed out.

Update August 2024: Further to the success of the target hardening day in SUTTON VILLAGE we have arranged a second one for the surrounding area on 15 September.

Security equipment continues to be handed out to vulnerable residents who require target hardening on their addresses or who have been victims of crime.

Update 21 October 2024: On Tuesday 17 September 2024 a further event was held on Highfield and Highfield Close, Hull. Approx. 170 properties visited in relation to target hardening.

Update 15 April 2025: Sutton we continue to engage with the local residents and supply vulnerable and elderly residents with target hardening equipment from our Sutton ward budget.

We have recently purchased a further £5000 worth of target hardening equipment which will be handed out at local police surgeries and during target hardening initiative days. We have another day planned for June 2025 in the Howdale Road area which will also involve partner agencies.

Nuisance motorbikes, e-bikes, e-scooter and quad bikes in the areas of Dorchester Road and Castle Hill Road.

Issued 01 June 2026

Humberside Police have received several reports of nuisance motorbikes being driven in an anti-social behaviour across Dorchester Road and Castle Hill Road which is causing nuisance and intimidating residents.

Humberside Police have recently held an OP Yellowfin Week of Action which has included the areas of Dorchester Road and Castle Hill Road. This has resulted in an increased presence of officers in these areas targeting nuisance bikes. This has included an increased presence of officers in the area, including OP Yokohama (police off road bike team) and a drone officer being deployed to the area which has resulted in several bike seizures.
These areas continue to be a hotspot for nuisance motorcycles and talks are ongoing for future yellowfin and drone days, as well as other methods to address this complex issue.
