Water Safety Reminder During the Summer Holidays |
||
|
Hi Resident
With the warm weather continuing, our Prevention teams have been visiting local rivers and lakes during the summer holidays after reports of people entering the water, including families with young children.
While cooling off may seem appealing, it's important to remember that open water can be far more dangerous than it looks.
Even on the hottest days, rivers and lakes can remain dangerously cold. Entering the water suddenly can trigger cold water shock, causing an involuntary gasp, loss of breathing control and panic within seconds.
We are asking everyone to take extra care around open water and to share these important safety messages with family and friends: One conversation could prevent a split-second decision with serious consequences.
Thank you for helping us spread these important water safety messages and keep our communities safe. | ||
