Crime Prevention Advice - Burglary

Dear Residents,

We would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant and take a few simple steps to help protect your home from residential burglary.

Please consider the following crime prevention advice:

Always lock all doors and windows, even when you are at home or only leaving for a short time.

Keep keys, wallets, handbags, and vehicle keys out of sight and away from doors and windows.

Ensure outdoor lighting is working and consider using security lighting or CCTV where appropriate.

Avoid advertising holidays or prolonged absences on social media.

If you are away, ask a trusted neighbour or family member to keep an eye on your property, collect post, and create the appearance that someone is home.

Secure sheds, garages, and outbuildings with good-quality locks, and keep valuable tools and equipment locked away.

Record serial numbers and photograph valuable items to assist with recovery if they are stolen.

If you notice any suspicious behaviour, unknown individuals acting unusually, or vehicles causing concern in your neighbourhood, please report it to the police.

Non-emergency: Call 101 or report online via Humberside Police website.

Crimestoppers (anonymous): Call 0800 555 111 or report online if you wish to remain anonymous.
