AI Investment Fraud - Trigger Fraud Alert #41 (June 2026) |
||
|
Dear Resident, RE: AI Investment Fraud We are aware of several fraudulent videos circulating online containing fake AI footage appearing to show Bank of England officials and politicians, including Nigel Farage, endorsing an investment opportunity. We are sending this message to warn you about frauds like these. If you follow the links included in these videos, you will likely be connected to speak to a fraudster. Once these fraudsters believe you have ‘invested’ all the money available to you, they often cut all channels of communication and do not respond to any contact. Due to the increase in these types of fraud in our area, we are sharing the below advice to residents in our area: Treat all unexpected calls, emails, and text messages with caution. Don’t assume they’re genuine, even if the person knows some basic information about you. Be aware of social media investment / cryptocurrency schemes or cold callers who have found details of an old investment – Think if it is too Good to be True – It is. Never allow callers to access your device via AnyDesk or other remote access software. It can give scammers full control of your personal information and finances. You can check that a firm is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Search https://www.fca.org.uk/consumers/warning-list-unauthorised-firms Fraudsters often claim that you must pay a fee, tax, release charge, or clearance payment before you can withdraw your investment or receive profits. If you are asked this, Think Fraud! Reporting and Support If you have been a victim and lost money, call 101 and report it to Humberside Police.
