Advice - Rogue Traders and Cold Callers

Dear Resident, 

We would like to make residents aware of an incident on Burnby Close, Hull. A female described as white, 5 feet 6 inches tall, medium build with shoulder length hair has attended an address claiming that the occupant was due some money from a PPI claim however she would need to pay an initial 100 pounds. The victim did hand over 100 pounds then later realised it was a scam. This incident occurred on 09/06/2026 in the early afternoon. If you have witnessed anything suspicious or have CCTV that may have captured the incident please ring 101 and quote occurrence number 26*83041.

Humberside Police receive many reports each year about Rogue Traders or Cold Callers trying to force people to buy things or pay for work to be completed.

On many occasions it is the most vulnerable members of our community that are targeted.
