Speeding - B1445 corridor |
||
|
Good afternoon, Your ward councillor has been in touch regarding your concerns over excess speed on the B1445, which is a marked 30mph limit in all of the villages. He has stated that the times of main concern are between 3pm and 5pm, when the workers from the Easington gas terminals finish work. I have personally carried out speed checks in Easington, Welwick and Patrington on several occasions, and on each occasion, the only people I have had cause to stop and speak to have been local residents, never once a worker from the gas sites. That said, there are people whose desire to get wherever they are heading outweighs their concern for community safety, and I recognise this needs to stop. If issuing points and fines is the only way, then that is the route I shall take. On Thursday afternoon, two motorists were stopped at 40mph in Welwick, and both stated they were slowing down from the national speed limit prior to the village, which indeed they were, but unfortunately not enough. Two others were stopped elsewhere in the area at 43 and 49mph in 30 zones. I will be carrying out further speed checks on the “B1445 corridor” over coming weeks, unannounced and at varying times. Please continue to report your concerns to your respective parish councils and ward councillors, or via Humber Talking. Please also feel free to respond to this message. | ||
