When people think of the Special Constabulary, they often envision foot patrols or local community events. However, as a Special Sergeant with the Rural Task Force, Jon Page’s role has evolved alongside the technology we now use to protect our communities.

The integration of Specials into highly skilled departments is a massive win for us as many Specials bring high-level technical expertise from their civilian careers. By harnessing these skills, we gain a highly capable asset while fostering a one team culture between regular and volunteer officers.

As a Special, Jon sits within our Rural Task Force, who cover vast areas with limited resources. A drone piloted by a Special Sergeant can provide immediate air support for a warrant or a containment, allowing the NPAS helicopter to remain available for life-at-risk incidents in our urban centres

Being part of our in-house drone unit allows the Special Constabulary to lead from the front.

Our Specials aren't just an extra pair of hands; they are providing a specialised, high-tech service that makes us more agile and effective.

As Jon progresses towards his night qualification, he says he is proud to demonstrate that the Special Constabulary is ready, qualified, and equipped to police the 21st-century.
