Theft of Heating Oil from Religious Buildings |

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Heritage Crime, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. We are seeing an increase in theft of heating oil across the county and increasing from religious buildings often to the their isolated and rural settings. Please check your oil tanks to ensure they are secure and consider fitting an oil tank alarm and CCTV to alert you to any activity around your oil tank. Furthermore try consider enclosing your oil tanks to make them less visible to from roadsides. Heritage crime is defined as 'any offence which harms the value of Britain's heritage assets and their settings to this and future generations'.
That can include offences like lead theft from churches, damage to ancient monuments and illegal metal detecting. Advice on how to protect property that may fall into this category can be found at Rural crime | Neighbourhood Watch Network.
