Crime Alert - Scam or Fraud

Dear Residents,

Humberside Police are investigating a recent spate of rouge callers in and around the Ferry Ward area, whereby offenders are approaching address stating work is required, not completing any work and taking payment from residents.

Incidents involving Fraud and Scams are increasing, and only 1 in 7 incidents are being reported to the Police.

To reduce the risk of becoming a victim of a fraud/scam, please read through the below advice.

In relation to Fraud or Scams remember to TAKE FIVE

STOP - Take a moment to stop and think before parting with your money or information. It could keep you safe 

CHALLENGE - Ask yourself, could it be fake? It’s ok to reject, refuse or ignore any requests. Only criminals will try to rush or panic you.

PROTECT - Contact your bank immediately if you think you’ve been scammed and report it to Action Fraud at actionfraud.police.uk or on 0330 123 2040.
