The Forcer Protocol |
||
|
Do you know someone who has served our country who is at risk of going missing due to acute mental distress? We understand nothing is more worrying or distressing than when a loved one, friend, or someone you know goes missing and does not return when expected. For people living with UK veterans, serving HM Armed Forces personnel or reservists, there may be many complexities, concerns or vulnerabilities surrounding them which may mean that sadly this could be a common occurrence. We will do all we can to help locate missing people and get them home safely as quickly as possible – particularly when they are vulnerable. Often, UK veterans, serving HM Armed Forces personnel, and reservists may have known health conditions, triggers, and safe places they may head to when in distress, so having details of these written down in case of emergency can really help speed up the search and help you access the right support. From today (Monday, 15 December 2025), Humberside Police have therefore adopted the nationwide Forcer Protocol, established in honour of Alan Forcer, a veteran who tragically took his own life. The protocol was developed to ensure that no one who has served our country is left without rapid, compassionate intervention during moments of acute mental distress.
