| Crime Prevention Over Bonfire Night | ||
| Dear Resident,
As we approach Bonfire Night, we want everyone to enjoy the celebrations safely and responsibly. While fireworks and bonfires can be great fun, this time of year also sees a rise in calls to the Police relating to anti-social behaviour and arson offences.
Help us keep our communities safe by following these 5 simple steps:
πΉ Report suspicious behaviour β If you see someone acting suspiciously around bins, derelict buildings, or open spaces, please report it immediately. Arson is a serious crime that puts lives at risk. πΉ Secure your property β Keep wheelie bins and flammable materials out of sight and away from buildings. These are often targeted for fire-setting. If you need to keep wheelie bins at the front of your address, consider securing them so they cannot be taken and set on fire. πΉ Attend organised events β Public displays are safer, well-managed, and more enjoyable for all. Do not set off fireworks in the street or public parks as that is an offence, unless part of an organised event. πΉ Respect your neighbours β Loud noises and late-night activity can cause distress, especially to the elderly, young children, and pets. πΉ Know the law β Itβs illegal to set off fireworks after 11pm (midnight on Bonfire Night). Offenders can face fines or a prosecution.
As always, we are working closely with other agencies to patrol hotspot areas and respond quickly to incidents. Your help makes a big difference.
Letβs work together to make Bonfire Night safe and enjoyable for everyone.
