Day of action in Grimsby and Cleethorpes |
||
Our Cleethorpes and Grimsby Neighbourhood Policing Teams continue to deliver proactive policing across the area, with yesterday’s day of action (Wednesday, 22 October 2025) providing an opportunity to further intensify our focus on key community concerns. Officers are regularly engaged in tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB), shop theft, and wider community safety matters. The day of action allowed for a more concentrated approach to these priorities, shaped by feedback from residents and businesses through Humber Talking surveys and direct engagement with our teams. During the operation, a 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with theft from a grocery shop on St Peters Avenue, Grimsby. Officers acted swiftly to secure CCTV footage, take statements, and recover the stolen items, which were reportedly returned to the store within 20 minutes of the offence taking place. In the area of Meridian Point, officers identified individuals believed to be involved in ASB and issued banning notices restricting their access to the location. Officers also engaged with parents whose children had previously been linked to reports of ASB concerns. Throughout the day, officers carried out Humber Talks with members of the public, offering reassurance and safety advice while maintaining a high-visibility presence through foot and vehicle patrols across key ward areas. The team also visited a number of shops along St Peters Avenue, speaking with owners and staff to listen to concerns and reinforce our commitment to supporting the local business community. Additional engagement took place with a grocery shop near Hewitts Circus, where officers met with the store manager and security staff to strengthen working relationships and carry out foot patrols. Information gathered during the day of action will help inform future policing activity and support ongoing investigations. This targeted work builds on the daily efforts of our officers, who remain committed to addressing crime and ASB across Cleethorpes and Grimsby. We encourage residents to continue sharing concerns with their local officers, whether in person or via our non-emergency number 101. In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, always call 999.
