Longhill & Bilton Grange Ward Update. |
||
Good afternoon, everybody.
As one of the community beat managers for the Longhill & Bilton Grange Ward, we listen to our local residents’ concerns, issues and problems and where possible identify offenders, and take positive action against them.
Drug dealing / Taking. – In the last six months we have developed intelligence received from residents, partner agencies and ourselves in relation to drug use and dealing which we are aware, in turn causes other criminality and Anti- Social Behaviour. We have conducted hi-visibility patrols, as well as plain clothes policing and executing warrants at addresses. Through these activities in the last six months on this ward alone, we have had numerous positive results. This has included drugs warrants whereby class A, B & C drugs have been seized, as well as weapons and cash. Local neighbourhood officers have patrolled known drug dealing locations, stopped, searched, and arrested offenders in possession of large quantities of drugs. As a result, numerous arrests have been made and charges secured for drugs offences resulting in custodial sentences. On the back of the convictions Hull City Council have also completed tenancy enforcement action on their properties.
Nuisance Motorcycles – These have caused numerous issues for the local residents, families, sporting clubs, dog walkers and other road users and caused damage to green areas within the ward. In the last couple of months over the summer period we have seized several off-road motorcycles, Surrons and electric scooters which have caused issues in the area at local shopping centres and on the parks. Riders have been dealt with positively with summonses to court for road traffic offences and tenancy action taken by the local council. Further planned “days of action” are planned in the very near future with operation Yokohama off road police motorcycles and other partner agencies.
ASB General – We receive numerous reports of Anti-Social Behaviour. We work very closely with the local community stakeholders through viewing CCTV to positively identify offenders of this. Public order offences, arsons, groups congregating and climbing on and entering derelict buildings has been an issue throughout the summer months. Numerous persons have been positively identified, detained and spoken to with parents and legal guardians present. This has resulted in both the council, fire service and police taking action against these individuals through educational and diversionary work.
Alcohol – Persons drinking alcohol in the street can also cause Anti-Social Behaviour. The local policing team have addressed this with assistance of the local council. Lighting, benches, and other places which attract known drinkers to congregate have been discussed with a view to these being removed. Offences which arise from this are public order, drunk and disorderly and minor assaults. Several individuals who have engaged in this behaviour in the summer months have been dealt with positively with court appearances and custodial sentences.
Fraud – There have been several varying fraud offences committed on the ward area. Where possible the local neighbourhood team have assisted and positively identified offenders leading to criminal convictions. Vulnerable persons who have been affected by this such as the elderly and disabled have been safeguarded and signposted to appropriate help and support. Many of these will receive regular support and visits from the local officers who get to know these persons on a more personal level. Crime prevention advice and equipment such as cameras are handed out where appropriate.
House Burglary – In addition to the police investigations, victims of burglaries will also receive a visit from the local neighbourhood policing team. They will be offered crime prevention advice and offered burglary prevention equipment such as Patio door locks, alarms, door braces, cameras and lights where appropriate. As the darker longer nights are approaching, please be mindful to always ensure all doors and windows are kept kept locked and to report any suspicious activity on either 999 or 101.
If you wish to discuss or report any of the above, there are several ways to contact the local policing team. You can come along to our street surgeries which are at the Acorns Centre, Nestor Grove and the Longhill Library on Shannon Road. Dates and times for these are on the Humberside Police Neighbourhood Policing Team Internet page. Alternatively call 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800555111. | ||
