Winter Fuel Allowance Fraud - Trigger Fraud Alert #31 (September 2025) |

Dear Resident,
Humberside police have advised that Fraudsters are sending out winter fuel payment scam texts claiming to be from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Victims have received a winter fuel allowance scam text, with an attached link. When you click on the link you will be asked to fill out a form which includes your personal bank details.
Remember: The Government will not ask you for your bank details in this way. Never share personal or financial details in response to unsolicited messages. Most eligible people don’t need to apply, and the recipients will get the Winter Fuel Payment automatically. If you want to check eligibility on Winter Allowance – DO NOT click on the link sent to you in the text message. Always check information via the official GOV.UK website.
