Crime Alert - Theft from a Vehicle

Dear Resident,

 

Humberside Police are investigating increase reports of a theft from a cars in Central and St Andrew and Docklands areas. 

 

The main areas of thefts are Park Street and Prospect Street with offenders often smashing windows to steal items on display. Please ensure you leave vehicles secure, in well lit areas and without items on display. In all cases this appears to have opportunistic thefts. 

 

If you have any information please contact us via 101 to report any suspicious activity in the area. 

 

Alternatively you could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You don’t have to leave your name and you may even receive a reward.

 

To reduce the risk of your vehicle being broken into, please read through the below advice -

  • Keep the vehicle locked at all times, and ensure you double lock it.
  • Make sure that your vehicle alarm is set.
  • Do not leave any valuables or "interesting" items on display
  • Don't leave tools in a van over night.
  • If possible park your vehicle on a drive or as close to your home as possible.
  • When away from Home Park in a busy, well overlooked area. If the car will be there after dark try to find somewhere illuminated
