Anti-Social Behaviour at BMX Track in New Waltham

Dear Resident,

I have received reports that an assault took place on a young male who was using the BMX track on Monday 25th March 2024. This group thought it would be acceptable to ‘bully’ the victim by not only assaulting him but throwing his pedal cycle and trainers in the ditch nearby. This incident took place between 16:30 hours and 18:15 hours on that day.

I have also received a concerning call from our local Fire Brigade that they had cause to attend the BMX Track in New Waltham, after reports that there was a fire in the bushes nearby (it is believed that a wheelie bin may have been deliberately set on fire). When the Fire crews attempted to put the fire out, they were subjected to having items thrown at them (bricks/stones).

Now I do not have to mention the seriousness of this incident, however I can tell you that this is totally unacceptable, and I would like to ask all parents to speak to their children to see if they saw or heard anything that would help me to identify those involved (perhaps they saw something on the social media platforms like ‘Tik Tok or Snapchat’ etc).

Could I also request any residents who have CCTV/ring doorbell/dash camera footage of the group to please reply to this alert, so that I could view the footage.

Feel free to share the attached poster with family, friends, neighbours, and social media by clicking the 'Share' button below this alert.
